The Territory is a great place to live and work.
We are growing fast. Our economic and population growth is the envy of Australia. This growth presents challenges and opportunities. It’s important for us to plan today the direction the Territory will take into the future.
That’s why I established the Territory 2030 Steering Committee, made up of leaders from outside of Government.
Months of dedication and hard work by the committee resulted in the launch of the draft Territory 2030 - fresh ideas, real results strategy.
The Steering Committee finalised the consultation phase in June and delivered its final report to me in late August 2009. Government agencies have reviewed the report and on 10 October 2009 my office reviewed agency comments with the co-chairs and jointly agreed on final changes to the document.
Following endorsement by the Cabinet I expect to release the final document in December 2009.
